In the last couple of years, Kentucky Fried Chicken has been known for “switching up” who plays Colonel Harland Sanders on a regular basis. Jim Gaffigan, Ray Liota and Rob Lowe have all recently held the title of playing the cheery chicken peddler. However, Reba McEntire is about to become the first FEMALE Colonel Sanders.
KFC Announced that a new product, Smoky Mountain BBQ Fried Chicken will launch with a nationwide TV campaign featuring McEntire at the end of January. KFC says the 62-year-old “Queen of Country” was chosen for her love of fried chicken and alluring Southern charm — making her the perfect person to promote the newest crispy addition to the chain’s “Taste of the South” fried chicken lineup.
Reba seems pretty excited for the role herself- “I grew up with Kentucky Fried Chicken. It’s part of my story, and I’m so excited to now be part of theirs,” the Oklahoma native said in a press release. “I’ve held a lot of roles in my life — sort of like the Colonel himself — but this is certainly the most unique one yet.”

Nothing to see here, folks. Nope, nothin’ at all. Just the same old Colonel with a new flavor of fried chicken.
