Best Buy has announced that a once popular item is no longer going to be available in its’ stores.
Starting July 1, CDs will no longer be sold at Best Buy. According to Billboard Magazine: “At one point, Best Buy was the most powerful music merchandiser in the U.S., but nowadays it’s a shadow of its former self, with a reduced and shoddy offering of CDs,” Billboard reported. “Sources suggest that the company’s CD business is nowadays only generating about $40 million annually.”
Analysts say that while CD sales have dropped, Americans are still buying music- however more increasingly through digital downloads such as iTunes.
Reports soon followed that Target Stores are also considering discontinuing sales of CDs in their stores as well.
