PNC Bank tallies up the bill every year- and for 2024, it’s just under $50,000 for everything from 12 drummers drumming down to a Partridge In A Pear Tree. We rounded the change. You can check their calculations out for yourself on their website.
For those who want an express version of the math…
A Western Partridge nestled in a Bartlett Pear Tree from The Home Depot adds up to $160.
Two Turtle Doves are $750– but since they are endangered, good luck!
Three French Hens turn out to be one of the less-expensive gifts this year, but still clock in at $347 (that’s $115 a hen!)
the Four Calling Birds have not gone up in price for over a decade! But still, $600 for the blackbirds…
Despite the price of gold going up, the five rings have stayed steady in price- $1,245 for the jewelry
It turns out that six Geese-A-Laying are expensive coming in at $900! ($150 a goose- more pricey than the hen)
Swans are even pricier- at $1,875 a piece… $13,125 for the lot making them the second most-expensive gift
Eight Maids-A-Milking is about $58– Just paying the labor costs there (federal minimum-wage was used to calculate)
A nine-member all-female dance line rang up at $8,557– Makes us wish we knew how to dance!
Ten Lords from Britain’s upper house of Parliament are the most expensive gift this year- at $15,579. Although, the British government maintains that it is illegal to physically purchase a Senator for any purpose, so good luck with that.
Pass the bagpipes! Eleven Pipers Piping charge $3,715 for their services.
The 12 drummers even got a raise this year- billing $4,016.
