We’ve all had the friends, family members, and co-workers who have taken the opportunity to humblebrag- Those modest statements where the whole purpose is for the speaker to draw attention to something they did that they are proud of. Now its cousin “Boomerasking” is taking center stage, and it doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with the boomer generation.
Boomerasking is all about asking a question so the asker can respond with a boast. It’s like asking “Do anything fun last weekend” only so you can talk about a concert, game, or party that you went to.
A study even found that there are three types of “boomer-asks”– Ask-bragging, Ask-Sharing, and Ask-complaining. The good news is that the psychologists behind the study say there is an easy fix for the boomer-askers…. Don’t ask questions they cannot butt into with their self-centered answers.
