Fingers crossed for some clear skies on Friday night! NASA says that Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune will all be visible from Earth. While you can see most of them with the naked eye, experts say that a good telescope or binoculars are needed to get a good view of most of the planets.
What’s causing this is called planetary alignment, and it happens when the planets orbit the sun on a relatively flat, disk-shaped plane. While planetary alignments are relatively common, it’s usually only 3-4 planets at a time… Not seven.
