This is a cool idea! An eight-year-old in Las Vegas named Phoenix saw a classmate alone on the playground at recess and came up with the idea of a Buddy Bench at the school. Phoenix says that the concept is simple- if you need someone to play with, sit on the bench. When another kid sits down, they now each have a friend to play with.
The principal of Phoenix’s school is all for the idea as well- saying that it can be a great tool to teach kids to advocate for themselves or advocate for others.
Here’s hoping Buddy Benches start popping up on playgrounds all over!
